Tracking

Use /track <player> (alias /tr) to follow another online player. The action bar shows their name, distance, and dimension. /track stop cancels your current target.

Eligibility

  • You cannot track yourself.
  • The target must have at least 3 hours of playtime.
  • Tracking can be fully disabled on No Tracking Day.

Tracking Modes

  • Exact - live distance + direction arrow.
  • Vicinity - distance rounded to buckets (no arrow).
  • Disabled - tracking is off for everyone.

What Stops Tracking

Tracking will stop if:

  • You or the target starts sneaking.
  • You or the target becomes invisible.
  • The target logs out.

Elytra Cooldown (Vicinity Mode)

Vicinity tracking also ends if the tracker is wearing or using an elytra. Once you wear an elytra, you get a 10 minute tracking cooldown. Trying to track during the cooldown shows how long is left.

Cross-Dimension Support

  • Overworld <-> Nether - distances auto-convert using the 8:1 ratio. The action bar shows the ratio tag so you know conversion is active.
  • End - if both are in the End, distance shows normally.

Action Bar Setting

Tracking uses the Action Bar. If you have Action Bar disabled in /settings, tracking will still run but you will not see the live readout.

Command Recap

  • /track <player> - start tracking.
  • /track stop - stop tracking.
